Subiaco Craft Fair, Expresstival, and Perth Heat

Expresstival, Subiaco Craft Fair, Perth Heat CheerleadingOur singers and dancers have been working hard the past few weeks with lots of public performance opportunities and events!

On the 17th of October singers, dancers, acrobats and cheerleaders performed at Expresstival in the Perth CBD. Alongside talented local and national artists, the students performed a number of exciting and upbeat routines to crowds of thousands in the Murray Street Mall. Visitors to the festival enjoyed performances at two locations in the CBD as well as a special early edition of the Twilight Hawkers market, famous for its wonderful array of international food. Well done to all the groups, quartets, duets and soloists who performed!

On the 24th October the WAPS Cheerleaders had their first spot (of many) cheering for Perth Heat, our local baseball team. They did a great job and helped raise the energy and excitement amongst sports fans (and dance parents alike!). They demonstrated flexibility, strength, rhythm, and their hard work at training sessions showed – great work, girls.

Finally, on October 26th, WAPS singers, dancers, cheerleaders and acrobats performed at the annual Subiaco Craft Fair. In a gorgeous spot on the UWA oak lawn, performers ranging in age from 7 years to 16 years entertained crowds enjoying the day with stalls, raffles and delicious food. Nothing stopped our performers from doing their best – not the weather, and not any technical difficulties encountered – crowds enjoyed a professional set of ensemble and solo songs, a tap solo, cheerleading routines, and modern jazz numbers. Organisers and attendees alike gave us wonderful feedback.

Well done to all the students who have represented WAPS at public performances over the past few weeks – you’ve made us very proud and we hope you enjoyed your time onstage!
