OPEN AGE – RAD Ballet Grade 5/Pointe Class
About Our OPEN AGE Ballet Grade 5/Pointe Classes
Our OPEN AGE Ballet Grade 5/Pointe class is suitable for students aged 14yrs through to adults, who have at least 2 years of ongoing ballet training.
Pointe classes, or pointe preparation classes, are suitable for anyone with sufficient ballet training and experience, who are looking to start pointe work! This class is for those dancers wishing to strengthen and condition their legs, ankles and feet with the aim to dance en pointe.
This is why we have an open-age class, as pointe will largely be determined by your training, skill level and experience; not age.
Students will work closely with the teacher towards building strength and technique to ensure a strong and safe foundation before pointe shoes can be worn. Safety is our biggest priority and we focus on training and development that can help our students achieve a long, safe, and injury-free dance journey.
Whether you are a teenager or an adult, if you are looking to start pointe work and working towards those elegant pointe shoes, then this class is for you!
If you are not sure if your experience level is sufficient, please email us at dance@waps.com.au and we can discuss.
About Ballet & Pointe Classes
Pointe is the very graceful Classical Ballet art of dancing on the very tip of your toes in pointe shoes, however requires great training beforehand to ensure a dancer’s feet can withstand the pressure. Pointe technique is combined with our RAD Grade 5 Class.
Class involves warm up, stretching, barre and center work and follows the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Syllabus. Students may be given the option to undergo mock examinations in their respective grades.
Examinations (and mock exams) will incur extra costs and are entirely optional, though we highly recommend them for students who wish to excel in dance or simply achieve recognition for their hard work. Please note that students will not necessarily move up a grade each year – to ensure thorough syllabus knowledge and execution, as well as training and proper technique, students usually take the same grade class for approx 2-3 years.
What To Wear
It is compulsory that all dancers wear either pink or black leotard, with ballet tights and ballet shoes. Hair must be tied back neatly into a bun. Form fitting dance shorts can also be worn for comfort and modesty.
