Commercial Dancers, WAPS PerthNews and Info – Dancers at WAPS!

Term 4 has only just begun and WAPS students and staff have already jumped right back into action again! After the busy holidays (with R.A.D. exams and Bayswater Competitions), WAPS students returned to classes and went straight back to rehearsing for our end of year concert, as well as a few recent events!

On Saturday 28th October, a number of WAPS staff and students participated in the Inaugural Bay View Terrace Festival. Celebrating the rejunivation of the Bay View Terrace precinct, the festival drew enthusiastic crowds who enjoyed free dance workshops, games, prizes, performances and even a Gangnam Style dance off! Teaming up with Azure Entertainment, WAPS put together an exciting show featuring a range of amazing styles and routines, featuring WAPS Acrobatics instructor Ebony, the Adult Performance Troupe, Adult Contemporary instructor Kathleen, and assistant director Cameron as MC! Together with artists from Azure Entertainment and Lady Velvet Cabaret they put on a fantastic and engaging show!

Then on Sunday 29th October WAPS kids & teens performed at the annual Subiaco Craft Fair! Students in our Monday Senior Modern Jazz class, Junior Performance Troupe, Senior Performance Troupe, and Cheerleading class all put together a fun show with a range of exciting routines and impressive costumes! Well done to all the students who performed, especially those who performed solos! Special thanks also to WAPS teachers who coordinated the day – thank you for your dedication to your students, and your professionalism under pressure!

Also new at WAPS recently is our Piano program! With group and private lessons going well, students are enjoying playing on our brand new Casio equipment! Enrolments are open for next year, so send your expression of interest to us now!

I’d like to start this email by commending WAPS for the pro-active and innovative way you have managed the current COVID-19 situation we are experiencing – they way you were able to embrace and mobilize technology, and your excellent communications, to keep classes running has been really impressive. Sadly not all kids activities have managed to do this so as a parent now grappling with school and work at home, I am truly grateful and my daughter is loving her Zoom classes!

She had a great time on Saturday night, it was great to see her back on stage, after 3 very long years of illness. Definitely made our end of year, very special ?
